Police Records Corroborate Smollett’s Story

Hill commented in the interview “One of the things specifically that the Chicago PD said with your case is that they could not find video of a hate crime attack. They couldn’t find anybody that fit the description that you gave them.”

Smollett’s responded : “It’s out there. There were also two other witnesses who saw white men – saw exactly what I say that I saw.” The official transcript of the 2019 dismissal as well as detective records were released to the public in May 2019. Footage of Attack

Smollett also spoke about the lack of footage: “There is a tape from what I see, but of course it cuts off right before it happens.” Indeed, there is no footage of the encounter but there is enough to connect the dots. According to detectives, a man can be seen walking up behind Smollett. Shortly after, the footage shows the attackers running away encountering a security guard – another witness who would later identify one of them as white.

Jussie Smollett is currently facing criminal charges and a civil lawsuit from the City of Chicago. He was limited in his expressions about the case and mostly encouraged the audience to research what actually happened. He ended the interview with these words after Hill thanked him for speaking ‘his truth’. “I don’t speak my truth – there is no such thing as yours and my truth, there’s only one truth. I don’t speak my truth, I speak the truth.”
