Johnny Depp vs The Sun: 4 Crucial Pieces of Evidence the Judge Didn’t Consider
Judge Decision Review

Johnny Depp has lost his defamation suit against Britain’s tabloid, The Sun. An article was published by the distributor referring to Depp as a “wife-beater” in April of 2018. This sparked a courtroom confrontation between Depp and his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, where the judge decided in favor of the tabloid. Elaborating on their undeserved victory, The Sun recently published a new article with the heading: On behalf of all domestic abuse survivors we can confirm Johnny Depp IS a wife beater. How did the circumstances turn on Depp? The evidence demonstrates that he was the actual victim of domestic violence, so what happened in the courtroom? Johnny Depp vs The Sun, here are 4 crucial pieces of evidence that the Judge didn’t consider.

Testimony from Police and Hotel Staff

The Judge did not consider testimony from friends and employees that were part of Depp’s defense. He stated that “employees would have a duty to defend Depp.” However, there were police and staff members, outside of Depp’s personal camp that testified in contrary of Heards story too. Amber Heard alleges that Johnny Depp abused her on 14 different occasions, resulting in a court-approved order of protection. According to both parties, Heard had no bruises on her face the days leading up to the day she filed the restraining order against Depp.

Amber Heard’s Taped Confessions

In private taped confessions Heard admits to starting fights with Johnny Depp. The Judge acknowledged that the admission on the tape is vastly different from what Heard testified in court. However the Judge concluded it this way: “In my view no great weight is to be put on these alleged admissions by Ms Heard to aggressive violent behavior. It is trite to say, but nonetheless true, that these conversations are quite different to evidence in court. A witness giving evidence in court does so under an oath or affirmation to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”

What’s also puzzling is the judge had no issue using the vulgar text messages of Depp venting about the relationship as evidence against him. On the tape, Heard told Depp “I’m sorry that I didn’t hit you across the face in a proper slap but I was hitting you. It was not punching you. Babe, you’re not punched … I don’t know what the motion of my actual hand was, but you’re fine. I did not hurt you, I did not punch you; I was hitting you.”

Statements from Winona Ryder and Vanessa Paradis

The basis of Heard’s allegations is that Depp has a Jekyll and Hyde type persona. According to Heard, when Depp drinks too much he becomes violent. Witness statements from his exes would shed light on his past, considering they too witnessed his drug and alcohol abuse. The judge stated he would consider this testimony as hearsay.

Johnny Depp’s Injuries

According to court documents Depp offered cigarette burn ‘evidence’. He revealed that Heard stubbed a lit cigarette on his cheek during a March 2015 fight in Australia, and she threw a bottle at him severing his finger during another altercation. Heard claimed that Depp was responsible for these injuries himself. Whether the allegations are true or not, the judge should remain neutral, basing his decisions on evidence. However, in this case, everything Heard stated the judge deemed valid despite there being evidence to the contrary.
